Terms of Service
Last updated: May 20, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Reecog website and Slack recognition bot (the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms.
Who we are
The Services are provided by Reecog ("Reecog", "we", "us", "our"). Contact: privacy@reecog.com.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Services.
Accounts and access
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Slack workspace and any credentials used to access the Services. Workspace administrators are responsible for managing user access and configuration within their workspace.
Acceptable use
- Do not misuse the Services or interfere with normal operation.
- Do not attempt to access data belonging to other workspaces without authorization.
- Do not use the Services to violate laws or third-party rights.
- Do not use automated tools to spam recognition commands or abuse rate limits.
- Do not include sensitive personal information (health data, financial details, government IDs) in recognition reason text.
Recognition content
When you give recognition using Reecog, the reason text you provide is stored and visible to members of your workspace. You are responsible for the content of your recognition messages. Do not include content that is:
- Harassing, discriminatory, or abusive.
- Confidential or proprietary without authorization.
- Illegal or in violation of third-party rights.
Workspace administrators may reset points and manage configuration but cannot edit individual recognition reason text.
Pricing and billing
- Pricing is per workspace, based on workspace member count, and is available in tiered plans.
- Plan tiers: up to 25 members, 25–100 members, and 100+ members.
- Billing is handled through our payment provider (LemonSqueezy).
- Prices may change with at least 30 days prior notice.
- If your workspace member count exceeds your current plan tier, you will receive a notice to upgrade.
- A 7-day grace period applies when a plan expires or requires an upgrade.
Free trial
Reecog offers a 30-day free trial for new workspace installations. During the trial, all features are available without payment. At the end of the trial, you may choose a paid plan to continue using the Services. If no plan is selected, access to recognition and redemption features will be paused.
Data ownership and portability
- Your data belongs to you. Recognition data, configuration, and user records belong to the workspace and its users.
- Export — any user can export their personal data at any time using
/points export. - Deletion — any user can permanently delete their data using
/points delete-my-data. This action is irreversible. - Uninstall purge — when Reecog is removed from your Slack workspace, all workspace data is permanently and automatically deleted from our systems.
Admin responsibilities
Workspace administrators have elevated privileges including:
- Resetting individual or all user points.
- Adding/removing company values and rewards.
- Configuring daily limits, GIF settings, and point labels.
All admin actions are logged in an audit trail. Administrators should use these privileges responsibly and in accordance with their organization's policies.
Service availability
- We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice when possible.
- Slack platform outages are outside our control and do not constitute a breach of these Terms.
Termination
- By you — you may stop using the Services at any time by uninstalling the app from your Slack workspace. All data will be purged upon uninstall.
- By us — we may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. We will provide reasonable notice where possible.
- Effect of termination — upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases. Data deletion follows our Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
The Services and related content (including branding, documentation, and code) are owned by Reecog or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without permission. Your recognition content remains yours.
Disclaimer
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reecog is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Services shall not exceed the amounts you paid to Reecog in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Reecog harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Services.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Reecog is established, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Dispute resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved after 30 days, disputes may be submitted to binding arbitration or the courts of competent jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. If changes materially reduce your rights, we will provide at least 30 days notice via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
